Opposition MP's Warned by Ndugai

Dodoma. Speaker of Parliament, Mr Job Ndugai, has warned opposition Members of Parliament, saying he will not tolerate groundless insults against him or the House as a whole.

Speaking shortly after the House resolved to suspend two opposition Members of Parliament (MPs), Ms Halima Mdee (Chadema - Kawe) and Esther Bulaya (Chadema - Bunda), Mr Ndugai said he has information regarding what other opposition legislators spoke about him and the House in general when they left the debating chamber in protest over the Speaker’s eviction of Mr John Mnyika (Chadema - Kibamba) on Friday last week.

“Be informed that there is nothing that you can say within the Parliament grounds and remain unnoticed. I have information that some of you insulted me personally and the House in general when you met in your deliberations,” Mr Ndugai.

He specifically mentioned Ms Rhoda Kunchele (Chadema – Special Seats), Susan Kiwanga (Chadema - Mlimba), Katani Ahmed Katani (CUF - Tandahimba), Saed Kubenea (Chadema - Ubungo) as some of the MPs who insulted him personally and the House in general.

“This building is well secured so much that we can always know what you say and act against you at any time,” he said.

That was after the ruling party-dominated House voted to suspend Ms Bulaya and Ms Mdee from participating in parliamentary proceedings until next year.

The two were punished for being disrespectful to the Speaker on Friday, June 2, when he (the Speaker) ordered the Sergeant at arms to evict Mr John Mnyika (Chadema - Kibamba) after an exchange of words erupted between them (the Speaker and Mnyika).
